Nolathane camber bolts give you the camber adjustment your vehicle needs to correct uneven tyre wear, restore alignment after a ride height change, or fine-tune handling. The range covers strut camber adjusting bolts that add adjustment where little or none exists, and OEM replacement inner control arm camber bolts that replace worn, rusted or seized factory adjusters on applicable vehicles.
Simple to fit and set on an alignment machine, Nolathane camber bolts are a practical, cost-effective alignment solution for passenger cars, performance vehicles, 4WDs, pick-ups and SUVs.
Why Camber Matters
Camber is the inward or outward tilt of the top of the wheel, viewed from the front. Negative camber tilts the top of the wheel in, and positive camber tilts it out.
A small, correct amount of camber keeps the tyre?s contact patch evenly loaded, particularly as the body rolls in corners. When camber is out of specification, the tyre runs on one edge, causing:
- Rapid wear on the inner or outer edge of the tyre
- Reduced grip, braking and cornering performance
- A pull to one side when camber differs between left and right
- Less predictable handling, especially on uneven roads
How Camber Bolts Work
A camber bolt has an offset, or eccentric, section between the head and the thread. As the bolt is rotated in its mounting hole, the offset moves one component relative to another, changing the angle of the wheel. Once the correct setting is reached on the alignment machine, the bolt is tightened to lock the setting in place.
There are two common ways camber bolts are used.
Strut Camber Adjusting Bolts
On MacPherson strut suspension, the base of the strut bolts to the steering knuckle with two bolts. A strut camber bolt replaces one of these standard bolts. Rotating the camber bolt moves the top of the knuckle in or out relative to the strut, adjusting camber. Strut camber bolts are ideal for vehicles with little or no factory camber adjustment.
Inner Control Arm Camber Bolts
On many double wishbone and some 4WD suspensions, camber is adjusted using eccentric bolts or cams at the inner control arm mounts. Turning these bolts moves the inner pivot of the arm in or out, changing camber, and on some designs caster as well. Nolathane OEM replacement camber bolts are designed to replace old, worn or rusted factory bolts at the lower or upper inner control arm on applicable vehicles, restoring reliable adjustment.
Camber Bolt Sizes and Fitment
Strut camber adjusting bolts are universal parts that fit by dimension. They?re available in a range of bolt diameters to match the factory strut-to-knuckle bolts used on different vehicles, from compact cars to larger SUVs, pick-ups and 4WDs. To choose the correct strut camber bolt:
- Measure the diameter of the existing strut-to-knuckle bolt, or check the factory specification
- Confirm the fitting position, usually the upper strut-to-knuckle bolt
- Check the adjustment range shown on the listing against how much correction is needed
Inner control arm camber bolts are vehicle-specific. Each listing shows the applicable vehicles, fitting position and kit contents.
Bulk packs of common strut camber bolt sizes are also available, making them convenient for wheel alignment specialists and workshops.
When to Use Camber Bolts
Camber bolts are the right solution when:
- Your vehicle has been lowered: lowering usually increases negative camber, causing inner-edge tyre wear.
- Your 4WD or pick-up has been lifted: raising ride height often reduces negative camber, or pushes it positive, causing outer-edge wear.
- Coilovers have been fitted: a change in ride height or strut design can shift camber outside specification.
- Tyres are wearing unevenly: camber is a common cause of edge wear.
- There?s no factory adjustment: many strut-equipped vehicles can?t be aligned to specification without camber bolts.
- Factory adjusters have seized: rusted or worn eccentric bolts prevent accurate alignment.
- You want more grip: a controlled increase in negative camber can sharpen turn-in and cornering grip for performance driving.
Camber Bolts for Performance and Motorsport
For performance and track use, a little extra negative camber helps keep the tyre?s contact patch flat as the body rolls in hard cornering. That improves grip and turn-in. Some strut camber bolt options are designed for motorsport applications that need more adjustment than typical road settings. These are noted on the relevant listings, and they should be used only where that level of camber suits the vehicle?s intended use.

Installing Camber Bolts
Camber bolts can be fitted by a workshop or an experienced home mechanic, but the final adjustment must always be made on a wheel alignment machine. As a general guide for strut camber bolts:
- Support the vehicle safely and remove the wheel.
- Mark the position of the strut and knuckle before removing the factory bolt.
- Remove one strut-to-knuckle bolt and replace it with the Nolathane camber bolt and supplied hardware.
- Lightly tighten the bolts so the camber bolt can still be rotated.
- On the alignment machine, rotate the camber bolt to set camber, then tighten all fasteners to the manufacturer?s specification.
- Set toe last, as camber changes affect toe.
For inner control arm camber bolts, follow the kit instructions and the vehicle manufacturer?s procedures. Fitting may involve supporting the suspension and removing the original bolts at the control arm pivot.
Recheck the alignment after the first few hundred kilometres, especially on lowered, lifted and performance vehicles.
Who Nolathane Camber Bolts Suit
Nolathane camber bolts suit owners of lowered cars and vehicles fitted with coilovers, and drivers of lifted 4WDs, pick-ups and SUVs with camber-related tyre wear. They?re also used on vehicles with seized or rusted factory camber adjusters, by performance and track day drivers fine-tuning camber, and by wheel alignment specialists and workshops that need reliable camber bolts on hand.
