NOLATHANE Leaf Spring Bushings with Fitting Position Front and Rear, Front

Leaf spring bushings are the platform-specific and dimensionally specified polyurethane bushing kits used to replace worn rubber bushings at the front eye, rear eye and shackle mounting positions of the rear leaf spring assembly. On leaf spring suspension platforms, the front eye bushing at the chassis mounting pin, the rear eye bushing at the shackle-to-spring interface and the shackle bushings at the chassis mount position are the three pivot points through which the spring articulates as it cycles under load. The condition of the bushing at each position directly affects rear axle longitudinal location, spring articulation smoothness, load handling consistency and the NVH transmitted through the spring mounting system into the chassis.

As leaf spring eye and shackle bushings wear, increasing compliance at the mounting interfaces allows the rear axle to move fore and aft under braking and acceleration, contributing to axle tramp, imprecise handling under load, rear end looseness and the clunking from the spring eye and shackle positions that is one of the most common complaints on high-mileage leaf spring trucks. The leaf spring bushings range covers front and rear greaseable main spring eye bushing kits, rear leaf spring bushing kits in dimensionally specified main eye ID and spring width combinations, spring eye front bushing kits in platform-specific and dimensional variants for RWD and 4WD, spring eye rear bushing kits with dimensional specifications, combined front and rear spring eye bushing kits, rear spring eye and shackle combined kits, rear leaf spring bushing kits for various cab 4WD pickup configurations, rear spring cushions and a bulk universal leaf spring bushing kit. All products are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Why Upgrade Suspension?

Leaf spring eye and shackle bushings on trucks, SUVs and body-on-frame platforms deteriorate under the sustained longitudinal load cycling, road shock and environmental contamination that rear leaf spring assemblies are subject to throughout the vehicle's service life. On platforms used for towing, hauling or off-road driving, bushing wear is significantly accelerated by the elevated and more frequent load inputs that these applications generate. Worn front eye bushings allow the axle to move rearward under braking in a way that directly affects braking stability and front-to-rear load transfer. Worn rear eye and shackle bushings allow the spring to shift and clunk at its rear mount, reducing the spring's controlled articulation and introducing noise and compliance into the rear mount interface.

Renewing leaf spring eye and shackle bushings with correctly specified polyurethane alternatives restores the correct longitudinal compliance at every spring pivot position, eliminating mount noise, improving axle location precision and delivering more consistent, predictable and stable handling under all load, towing and terrain conditions. Greaseable main spring eye bushing kits convert standard non-maintainable pins to a greaseable design, allowing periodic re-lubrication to extend bush life and prevent future pin seizing.

Why Purchase Leaf Spring Bushings?

Leaf spring eye and shackle bushing renewal is the most direct and cost-effective repair for the rear end clunking, axle tramp and load handling inconsistency that worn spring mount compliance introduces on high-mileage leaf spring trucks. Renewing the bushings restores correct spring pivot compliance at every mount position, eliminates the fore and aft axle movement that worn front eye bushings allow, and returns the rear suspension to the correct articulation baseline from which consistent, stable and controlled handling under all load conditions is delivered.

Greaseable spring eye bushing kits deliver an additional long-term benefit by converting the spring eye to a maintainable design, allowing the pivot pin to be re-lubricated periodically to prevent seizing and extend the service life of the bushing installation. For shops servicing high-mileage applicable trucks and 4WDs, dimensional bushing kits allow the correct profile to be matched by main eye ID and spring width where a platform-specific kit is not required, providing flexibility across a wide range of leaf spring configurations.

Compatible Vehicles

Leaf spring bushings are compatible with a wide range of vehicles, including:

• Applicable RWD full-size trucks and SUVs in various cab configurations requiring rear leaf spring front eye, rear eye or shackle bushing renewal at any spring mount position.
• Applicable 4WD full-size trucks in various cab configurations requiring rear leaf spring bushing renewal in 4WD-specific bushing profiles.
• Applicable 4WD trucks and SUVs requiring front spring eye bushing renewal at the front spring eye chassis mount position.
• applicable compact and passenger RWD vehicles requiring front spring eye bushing renewal on applicable leaf spring front suspension platforms.
• Any leaf spring platform requiring front or rear spring eye or shackle bushing renewal where the main eye ID and spring width match one of the available dimensionally specified kits in the range.
• Any platform requiring a universal leaf spring bushing kit where the eye and shackle bushing dimensions match the available bulk kit specification.

Installation and Support

Leaf spring bushing kits are designed for installation at the front eye, rear eye and shackle mounting positions of the leaf spring assembly. Installation times range from under an hour for single position eye bushing kits to three hours for complete rear leaf spring bushing kit installations depending on the platform and number of positions being renewed. Installation guides are available across most products. For additional technical assistance, a dedicated support team is available to confirm correct product selection, main eye ID, spring width and fitment for the specific platform and leaf spring assembly configuration.

Repair and Upgrade

Leaf spring bushings are manufactured from high-strength polyurethane engineered to withstand the sustained longitudinal load cycling, road shock and environmental contamination that leaf spring front eye, rear eye and shackle mount positions are subject to in everyday, towing, hauling and off-road use. Polyurethane maintains correct spring pivot compliance for longer than factory rubber alternatives under the elevated and repeated load inputs that leaf spring platforms in working use generate, delivering more consistent axle location and handling stability throughout the service life of the installation. Greaseable bushing kits with maintainable pin hardware extend the service interval further by allowing periodic pin re-lubrication. All products are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Who Leaf Spring Bushings Are For

Leaf spring bushings are a practical solution for:

• Professional shops completing rear suspension servicing and leaf spring overhauls on applicable RWD and 4WD trucks, SUVs and pickups in various cab configurations requiring correct leaf spring front eye, rear eye and shackle bushing renewal to restore correct axle location and eliminate spring mount noise.
• Truck and 4WD owners renewing worn leaf spring eye and shackle bushings to restore consistent and stable handling under towing and hauling loads, improve axle location precision and eliminate the rear end clunking that worn spring mount compliance produces.
• Shops and DIY users requiring dimensionally specified front or rear eye bushing kits matched by main eye ID and spring width for non-platform-specific leaf spring applications where a direct dimensional match is required.
• Anyone requiring greaseable main spring eye bushing kits to convert the spring eye to a maintainable design and prevent future pin seizing on heavily used leaf spring platforms.

The right leaf spring bushing kit restores correct spring pivot compliance at every renewed mount position, eliminates rear axle longitudinal movement and mount noise, and delivers consistent, stable and predictable handling under every load and terrain condition.
