NOLATHANE Radius Arm Bushings for 2011 Land Rover Defender SE

Land Rover Defender Radius arm bushings are the platform-specific polyurethane bushing kits used to replace worn rubber bushings at the front radius arm chassis and axle housing mount positions. The radius arm, also called a drag strut or tension rod on applicable platforms, connects the front axle housing or lower control arm to the chassis and resists the longitudinal forces generated by braking and acceleration, controlling fore and aft wheel movement and directly determining front caster geometry. On solid front axle platforms, the radius arm is the primary means by which the front axle is located longitudinally relative to the chassis, and the bushing at the chassis mounting position is the most geostandardally critical bushing in the front suspension.

As radius arm chassis bushings wear, increasing longitudinal compliance allows the front axle to move rearward under braking, contributing to brake dive, steering wander and the progressive front end instability that worn radius arm bushing compliance introduces under deceleration and cornering. On Applicable platforms that use a radius arm or tension rod to brace the front lower arm, worn chassis end bushings allow longitudinal arm movement that directly degrades front caster, steering response and alignment retention. The range covers radius arm to chassis bushing kits in multiple platform-specific configurations, radius arm to chassis mount bushing sets, a caster correction variant with caster shims, a performance specification kit, a front combined chassis bushing kit, a radius arm inner bushing set, a strut and control arm to chassis mount bushing set, and a tension rod caster correction bushing. All products are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Why Upgrade Land Rover Defender Suspension?

Radius arm bushing wear on solid front axle trucks and 4WDs is a primary driver of the front end instability under braking that is one of the most recognizable symptoms of high-mileage solid axle suspension. The radius arm is the only longitudinal locating device for the front axle on these platforms, and the compliance at its chassis mount bushing directly determines how precisely that location is maintained under every braking and acceleration input. Worn Land Rover Defender bushings that allow the axle to move even a small amount rearward under braking introduce a measurable caster change that manifests as the characteristic steering pull and front end dive that solid axle trucks develop over time.

On Applicable platforms using a radius arm or tension rod at the front lower arm, worn bushings at the chassis end allow the arm to move longitudinally under load, degrading front caster and the alignment retention that correct caster provides. For lifted trucks where the radius arm geometry has already been displaced by the ride height change, a caster correction bushing with shims addresses both the bushing renewal and the caster error introduced by the lift in a single installation.

Land Rover Defender Radius Arm Bushing Range

The Land Rover Defender radius arm bushing range includes:

• Land Rover Defender Radius Arm to Chassis Bushing Kits: Platform-specific polyurethane bushing kits for the radius arm chassis mounting position on applicable solid front axle trucks and 4WDs and Applicable 4WD platforms, in multiple configurations to match the specific chassis mount design of each platform.
• Land Rover Defender Radius Arm to Chassis Mount Bushing Sets: Platform-specific bushing sets for the radius arm chassis mount position on applicable 4WD and passenger platforms where the mount bushing set design differs from the standard kit format.
• Land Rover Defender Radius Arm to Chassis Bushing Set with Caster Shims: A combined bushing and caster correction shim kit for the radius arm chassis mount position on applicable solid front axle platforms, providing simultaneous bushing renewal and caster correction in a single purchase for lifted applications.
• Land Rover Defender Front Radius Arm to Chassis Performance Bushing Kit: A higher specification performance bushing kit for the front radius arm chassis mount position on applicable platforms requiring increased compliance stiffness at the arm pivot.
• Land Rover Defender Front Radius Arm to Chassis Combined Bushing Kit: A combined front radius arm chassis mount bushing kit supplying all required bushings for the full arm chassis mount in a single purchase on applicable platforms.
• Land Rover Defender Radius Arm Inner Bushing Sets: Bushing sets for the inner radius arm pivot position at the axle housing end of the arm on applicable solid front axle platforms, renewing the axle-end arm pivot independently of the chassis end.
• Land Rover Defender Strut and Control Arm to Chassis Mount Bushing Sets: Combined bushing sets for the strut and control arm to chassis mount position on applicable passenger and performance platforms where the radius arm-type brace mounts through a shared chassis position.
• Land Rover Defender Tension Rod to Chassis Bushing, Caster Correction: A caster correction bushing for the tension rod chassis mount position on applicable performance platforms, providing controlled caster correction at the inner pivot to address caster drift from wear or modification.
• Land Rover Defender Radius Arm Bushing Kits: General radius arm bushing kits for applicable platforms requiring renewal at the radius arm mount positions.

Why Purchase Land Rover Defender Radius Arm Bushings?

Land Rover Defender Radius arm bushing renewal is the most direct and cost-effective repair for the front end instability, brake dive and steering wander that worn chassis mount compliance introduces on solid front axle platforms. Renewing the bushings restores correct longitudinal axle location under all braking and acceleration inputs, eliminating the compliance drift that allows front axle movement and returning confident, precise and stable front suspension behavior from the moment of installation.

For lifted trucks where the radius arm geometry has shifted beyond the factory caster range, the caster correction bushing with shim kit addresses both the worn bushing and the geometry error simultaneously, allowing the front end to be correctly aligned without requiring additional aftermarket correction hardware. For Applicable platforms where caster drift has resulted from age, wear or modification, the tension rod caster correction bushing delivers controlled inner pivot correction at the chassis mount position for a single-purchase geometry fix.

Installation and Support

Land Rover Defender Radius arm bushing kits are designed for installation at the front radius arm chassis and axle housing mount positions on applicable platforms. Installation times range from under an hour for simple single position bushing kits to three hours for full chassis mount bushing set installations. Installation guides are available across most products. For additional technical assistance, a dedicated support team is available to confirm correct product selection, caster correction shim specification and fitment for the specific platform, lift height and arm configuration.

Repair and Upgrade

Land Rover Defender Radius arm bushings are manufactured from high-strength polyurethane engineered to withstand the longitudinal braking and acceleration loads, road shock and environmental exposure that radius arm chassis and axle housing mount positions are subject to in everyday, towing and off-road use. Geometry correction variants are precision-matched to deliver the correct caster correction for the applicable platform and lift combination, maintaining the set geometry under sustained driving loads once correctly installed and torqued. All products are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Who Land Rover Defender Radius Arm Bushings Are For

Land Rover Defender Radius arm bushings are a practical solution for:

• Professional shops completing front suspension servicing and lift installations on applicable solid front axle trucks and 4WDs requiring radius arm chassis bushing renewal to restore correct front axle longitudinal location and eliminate brake dive and front end instability.
• Lifted truck owners requiring combined caster correction bushing and shim kits to address both worn chassis end bushings and caster error from the suspension lift simultaneously at the radius arm pivot position.
• Applicable 4WD and passenger vehicle owners requiring radius arm to chassis mount bushing renewal to restore correct front arm compliance and improve front caster stability, steering response and alignment retention.
• Performance vehicle owners requiring tension rod or radius arm caster correction bushings on applicable platforms to restore or improve front caster geometry after wear or modification.

The right radius arm bushing kit restores correct longitudinal arm compliance and caster stability at the chassis mount position, eliminates front axle movement under braking and acceleration, and delivers more precise, stable and controlled front suspension behavior through every braking and cornering input.
