Dust Covers for 0

Dust covers are the replacement tie rod dust boot kits used to replace torn, cracked or deteriorated boots at the tie rod inner and outer end positions. The tie rod dust boot is the protective flexible boot fitted over the tie rod end joint that keeps road contamination, moisture, grit and road salt away from the tie rod joint's bearing surface and grease fill. When a tie rod dust boot tears or collapses, the joint it protects loses its contamination barrier, and the bearing surface becomes exposed to the road environment that accelerates wear, reduces grease life and shortens the serviceable life of the joint.

A torn tie rod boot does not immediately produce handling symptoms, which means the contamination entry it allows accumulates gradually over weeks and months of normal driving until the joint itself develops the play and vagueness that marks a worn tie rod end. Renewing a torn boot while the joint remains serviceable is the most cost-effective way to protect the joint from the contamination damage that a damaged boot allows and to restore the barrier that keeps the joint in service. The dust covers range covers a general tie rod dust boot set, front tie rod dust boot kits for applicable passenger and performance platforms, front tie rod dust boots for applicable RWD platforms, a general tie rod dust boot set for a further applicable platform configuration, and a standalone tie rod boot. All products are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Why Upgrade Suspension?

Tie rod end boot deterioration is among the most frequently missed items during routine vehicle inspections because a torn or cracked boot does not produce noise, vibration or any immediate steering symptom. The contamination entry that follows is silent and progressive, introducing fine particles and moisture into the joint bearing across every mile driven with the boot open until the joint develops the looseness, steering vagueness and shimmy that marks a worn tie rod end.

Replacing a torn boot while the tie rod joint remains serviceable extends the joint's remaining service life and defers or avoids full tie rod end replacement. For shops completing steering and front suspension inspections on applicable platforms, boot inspection and renewal as part of the service is a low cost, high value step that directly protects the most important link in the steering system. Correctly specified boots that match the boot seat geometry and articulation range of the specific tie rod joint seal correctly across the full steering lock range and provide reliable contamination protection throughout the service life of the installation.

Dust Cover Range

The dust cover range includes:

• Tie Rod Dust Boot Sets: Platform-specific dust boot sets for the tie rod end joint positions on applicable passenger and performance platforms, providing correct boot profile and seat geometry for the specific tie rod joint design.
• Front Tie Rod Dust Boots, General: Platform-specific front tie rod dust boot kits for applicable passenger and performance platforms requiring front tie rod end boot renewal in the correct profile for the applicable joint.
• Front Tie Rod Dust Boots, RWD: Front tie rod dust boot kits for applicable RWD passenger and performance platforms where the RWD-specific tie rod joint design requires a distinct boot profile from the FWD equivalent.
• Tie Rod Dust Boots, Additional Platforms: Platform-specific dust boot kits for the tie rod end positions on additional applicable passenger and performance platforms.
• Tie Rod Boot: A standalone tie rod boot for applicable platforms requiring individual boot replacement at a single tie rod end position.

Why Purchase Dust Covers?

Replacing a torn or cracked tie rod dust boot costs a fraction of the cost of replacing the tie rod end itself, yet it directly determines whether the joint continues in service with a protected and lubricated bearing surface or deteriorates under the contamination that an unprotected joint accumulates. On platforms where the tie rod end is an integral part of the steering rack assembly, early boot renewal on a serviceable joint is particularly cost-effective because the alternative is not a simple joint replacement but a more involved steering component service.

For shops completing steering services and wheel alignment corrections on applicable platforms, boot inspection and renewal as part of the service ensures every joint leaves the shop with a correctly sealed contamination barrier. Correctly specified platform-specific boots that match the exact profile and seat geometry of the applicable joint ensure the replacement seals correctly across the full steering articulation range.

Installation and Support

Dust cover kits install at the inner and outer tie rod end positions on applicable platforms. Installation times range from under an hour for simple boot-over-joint installations to one hour for kits requiring clamp fitting and boot seating. Correct fitment requires matching the boot profile and seat geometry to the specific tie rod joint design on the applicable platform. For additional technical assistance, a dedicated support team is available to confirm correct product selection and fitment for the specific vehicle and tie rod joint configuration.

Repair and Upgrade

Tie rod dust boots are manufactured from quality elastomeric materials engineered to withstand the angular articulation, road contamination exposure and temperature cycling that tie rod end positions are subject to throughout the steering system's service life. Quality replacement boots maintain correct sealing contact with the tie rod joint housing across the full articulation range of the joint at every steering angle, protecting the bearing surface from contamination entry and preserving the grease fill that lubricates the joint in service.

Who Dust Covers Are For

Dust covers are a practical solution for:

• Professional shops completing steering inspections, tie rod and rack services and wheel alignment corrections on applicable passenger, performance and 4WD platforms where a torn or damaged tie rod dust boot is identified on a joint that remains serviceable and can be retained with correct boot protection in place.
• Vehicle owners who have identified a torn or cracked tie rod dust boot during a routine inspection and want to renew the boot while the joint remains serviceable, deferring tie rod end replacement and protecting the joint from the contamination-induced wear that a damaged boot allows.

The right tie rod dust boot kit restores correct contamination protection at the tie rod joint bearing surface, seals the joint across its full articulation range, and extends the service life of a serviceable joint from the moment of installation.
