Nolathane ABS components protect the wiring that connects your ABS wheel speed sensors to the vehicle, especially after a suspension lift. Our ABS wire extension and relocation kits give the sensor leads the extra reach and correct routing they need, so they aren?t stretched, chafed or damaged when the suspension drops to full travel.
Designed alongside Nolathane?s lift kits and suspension components, these kits help your ABS keep working accurately and reliably after an upgrade, so you keep the braking and stability systems your vehicle depends on.
How ABS Wheel Speed Sensors Work
Each wheel has an ABS sensor, also called a wheel speed sensor, mounted at the hub or brake assembly. The sensor reads a toothed or magnetic ring that turns with the wheel, and sends a speed signal to the vehicle?s computer through a wiring lead.
That signal is used by several safety systems:
- Anti-lock braking (ABS): detects a wheel about to lock under hard braking, and modulates brake pressure so you keep steering control
- Traction control: detects wheel spin under acceleration and reduces power or applies the brakes
- Electronic stability control: compares wheel speeds to detect skidding, and helps correct understeer or oversteer
- 4WD and AWD systems: many use wheel speed data to manage traction and torque
Sensors may be passive or active, but all rely on an intact wiring lead to deliver a clean signal.
Why Lifting a 4WD Can Damage ABS Wiring
ABS sensor leads are routed from the wheel hub to the body or chassis, with enough slack for the factory suspension travel. When a 4WD or ute is lifted, the distance between the chassis and the axle or hub increases, particularly at full droop.
On some vehicles, the standard ABS lead can be pulled tight once the vehicle is lifted. That can:
- Stretch the wire and break its internal conductors
- Pull on or damage the sensor connector
- Cause the lead to chafe against suspension, brake or chassis components
- Introduce signal interference or intermittent faults
The result can be an ABS warning light, faulty readings, or loss of ABS, traction control and stability control.
Signs of Stretched or Damaged ABS Wiring
- An ABS, traction control or stability control warning light, especially after a lift
- A warning light that comes and goes over bumps or when the suspension articulates
- ABS activating unexpectedly at low speed
- Visible stretching, kinks, cracked insulation or rub marks on the sensor lead
- A sensor connector pulled out of its clip or bracket
These faults can have several causes, so have the system scanned for fault codes to confirm the source.
ABS Wire Extension Kits
ABS wire extension kits add length to the sensor lead, or reposition its mounting, so it has enough slack through the full range of suspension travel on a lifted vehicle. This keeps the sensor connection intact and the signal consistent, without changing the sensor itself.
ABS Wire Relocation Kits
ABS wire relocation kits move the lead?s mounting points to suit the modified suspension geometry, so the wiring follows a safe path clear of springs, shock absorbers, tyres and chassis edges. Correct routing prevents chafing and protects the lead from damage on rough roads and off-road tracks.
Each listing shows the vehicle, fitting position and kit contents.
Checking ABS Wiring After a Lift
After fitting a lift kit or suspension upgrade:
- Raise the vehicle so the wheels hang at full droop.
- Check each ABS lead for slack, making sure none is pulled tight.
- Turn the steering from lock to lock and check that the front leads don?t stretch or rub.
- Look for contact between the leads and the springs, shocks, tyres or chassis.
- Check that all clips and brackets are secure.
Any lead that is tight or rubbing needs an extension or relocation kit before the vehicle is driven.
Installation and Support
Nolathane ABS components are designed for straightforward fitment by professional workshops and experienced home mechanics. Each kit includes the hardware needed for a complete installation. If an ABS warning light remains on after fitting, have the system scanned and any stored fault codes cleared by a qualified technician.
Our local support team can help you choose the right ABS components for your lifted vehicle, or with any repair, replacement or upgrade question.
Who Nolathane ABS Components Suit
Nolathane ABS components suit owners of lifted 4WDs and dual cab utes whose ABS leads are stretched at full droop, and drivers seeing ABS or stability warning lights after a suspension upgrade. They?re also used by workshops completing lift kit installations and post-lift wiring corrections, and by anyone wanting to protect ABS wiring from chafing and damage off-road.

Extra lead length may also be needed on the hydraulic side, so check the brake line kits in Nolathane's brakes range.

When Lifting your vehicle, sometimes it isn't just the suspension system you need to consider, on some vehicles there are limitations with things like brake lines, handbrake cables and ABS leads and how much movement they have. Nolathane has a solution to ensure your brake lines, handbrake cables and or ABS leads are not stretched to the point of causing damage. A simple easy to fit spacer will ensure your brake lines, handbrake cables and or ABS leads will remain safe once your vehicle is lifted.Front ABS Wire - Relocation Kit to Suit Toyota Land Cruiser 76, 78 and 79 Series
