Nolathane brake hose bolts are a rear brake line extension mount kit for lifted 4x4s and pickups. Instead of a new brake line bracket, the kit uses bolts, spacer tubes, and washers to lower the existing brake hose bracket. That brake line extension gives the factory brake hose the slack it needs after a lift.
When a truck is lifted, the rear brake hose can end up stretched tight when the suspension drops. Relocating the bracket is a simple way to restore slack without replacing the hose. Each listing shows the kit contents and the vehicles it fits.
Why a Lift Stretches the Brake Hose
On a solid rear axle, a flexible brake hose connects the hard brake line on the frame to the line on the axle. The hose is flexible because the axle moves up and down relative to the frame as the suspension works.
From the factory, that hose is long enough to cover the suspension?s full range of travel. Lifting the truck changes that. A lift increases the distance between the frame and the axle, especially at full droop, when the axle hangs as low as it can.
At that point, a factory-length hose can be pulled tight. A tight brake hose can kink, rub against nearby parts, or strain its fittings, and none of those are safe on a brake system.
How a Brake Line Extension Mount Works
The kit works by moving the frame-side bracket down. Spacer tubes fit between the bracket and the frame, and longer bolts hold it in its new, lower position.
Lowering the bracket brings the top end of the brake hose closer to the axle. That gives the hose back the slack it lost when the truck was lifted. The factory brake hose and hard lines stay in place, so there?s no need to open the brake system to fit the kit itself.
Relocation Brackets and Longer Brake Hoses Compared
There are two main ways to deal with a stretched brake hose after a lift.
Relocating the bracket, as this kit does, works well for moderate lifts. It?s simple, it keeps the factory hose, and it doesn?t involve opening the brake system.
Extended brake hoses replace the factory hoses with longer ones. They?re the better option for larger lifts, or for trucks that see a lot of articulation off-road, where the suspension travels further than a relocated bracket can cover. Fitting longer hoses does mean opening the brake system and bleeding the brakes afterward.
The right choice depends on your lift height and how the truck is used. A brake line extension mount suits many lifted trucks, while bigger lifts may need longer hoses.
Signs of Brake Hose Tension
You can check for brake hose tension with the axle at full droop. Support the frame safely so the wheels hang off the ground, then look at the rear brake hose. Watch for:
- A hose that?s tight or pulled straight, with no slack
- Rubbing marks or kinks in the hose
- The hose pulling on the bracket or the hard line
- ABS sensor wiring that?s stretched as well
If the hose has no slack at full droop, it needs attention before the truck is driven hard or off-road.
Choosing a Brake Line Relocation Bracket
Choosing the right brake line relocation bracket kit depends on your truck and lift. Each listing shows the details.
Vehicle and Axle Configuration
Kits are matched to particular vehicles and rear axle setups. Use the vehicle search to find the one that fits your truck.
Lift Height Suitability
Check that the kit suits your lift height. A relocation kit adds a set amount of slack, which suits some lifts better than others.
Kit Contents
Check what?s included, such as the bolts, spacer tubes, and washers, so you know the kit has everything needed to relocate your brake line mounting bracket.
Fitting a Brake Line Extension Mount
Brakes are safety-critical, so qualified fitting is recommended. The general process looks like this:
- Support the vehicle and the axle safely
- Unbolt the brake hose bracket from the frame
- Fit the spacers and longer bolts, making sure the hard line isn?t stressed or bent
- Tighten all bolts to specification
- Check the hose and ABS wiring at full droop, full compression, and full steering lock
- Inspect the brake system for leaks
- Bleed the brakes if any brake line was opened
Limitations and Trade-Offs
A brake line extension mount is a useful fix, but it has limits:
- Relocation only adds a limited amount of slack
- Larger lifts may need extended hoses or changes to the hard lines
- The kit doesn?t replace worn or cracked brake hoses
- ABS and other wiring may need separate attention
- Fitment is specific to the listed vehicles
Brake System Safety and Compliance
Any change to the brake system must still meet the safety inspection requirements of the state where the vehicle is registered. Lift rules also vary from state to state. Let your insurance company know about any modifications.
