Rod End for 0

Rod ends are forged steel spherical pivot joint bearings used in custom and aftermarket suspension link fabrication, adjustable control arm construction, panhard rods, track bars, sway bar end link assemblies and other suspension applications where a freely articulating spherical pivot is required at the end of a threaded rod, tube end or clevis connection. A rod end consists of a forged steel housing with a threaded shank for installation into a threaded tube end or clevis, and a spherical bearing pressed into the eye of the housing that allows multi-axis angular articulation at the pivot point with minimal play and no compliance drift under load.

Rod ends are the pivot hardware of choice for performance, custom and competition suspension applications where precision pivot geometry and zero-compliance articulation are required at the link end position. The rod end range covers forged steel spherical rod ends in multiple dimensional profiles specified by housing OD, eye ID and overall length, available in both standard and extended length configurations for the larger OD profile, and in mid-size, smaller and smallest OD profiles for the respective link diameter and application requirements. All products are backed by a 3-year warranty.

Why Use Rod Ends?

Polyurethane and rubber bushings provide compliance at the pivot position, a designed-in angular flexibility that absorbs small misalignments and isolates vibration. This compliance is the correct choice for road vehicle suspension where ride comfort, NVH isolation and bushing longevity under sustained use are priorities. Rod ends do not provide compliance: the spherical bearing articulates freely with minimal friction and zero compliance, meaning the pivot geometry is maintained with precision under all loads without the angular deflection that a bushing introduces.

For custom suspension links, adjustable control arms, track bars and panhard rods where the pivot geometry must be exact and non-compliant, or where the link length is adjusted via the threaded shank to set precise suspension geometry, rod ends are the correct hardware. The threaded shank allows length adjustment at the installation stage, the rod end is threaded further in or further out of the tube end to set the exact link length required before the locknut is tightened. The available dimensional profiles span the most commonly required eye ID and housing OD combinations used in custom applicable and aftermarket suspension link fabrication.

Rod End Range

The rod end range includes:

• Forged Rod Ends, Larger OD Profile, Standard Length: Forged steel spherical rod ends with the larger housing OD and eye ID profile in the standard overall length, suited to heavier-duty custom link and adjustable arm applications requiring a larger bore pivot joint at the link end.
• Forged Rod Ends, Larger OD Profile, Extended Length: A forged steel spherical rod end with the larger housing OD and eye ID profile in an extended overall length for applications requiring additional thread engagement or a longer housing at the pivot end.
• Forged Rod Ends, Mid-Size OD Profile: A forged steel spherical rod end in the mid-size housing OD and eye ID profile for applications requiring an intermediate bore pivot joint at the link end.
• Forged Rod Ends, Smaller OD Profile: A forged steel spherical rod end in the smaller housing OD and eye ID profile for lighter-duty custom link and adjustable arm applications requiring a smaller bore pivot joint.
• Forged Rod Ends, Smallest OD Profile: A forged steel spherical rod end in the smallest housing OD and eye ID profile for the lightest-duty applications requiring the smallest available bore pivot joint.

The correct rod end for any application is selected by matching the housing OD to the clevis or mount bore, the eye ID to the mounting bolt or pivot pin diameter, and the overall length to the thread engagement and link geometry requirements of the specific application.

Why Purchase Rod Ends?

Rod ends are the most versatile and adjustable pivot hardware available for custom suspension link construction. The threaded shank allows precise link length setting and ongoing adjustment after installation, making them the standard choice for adjustable suspension links where geometry changes are required or where the link is part of a geometry-setting assembly. The spherical bearing design allows multi-axis angular articulation at the pivot with zero compliance, ensuring the pivot geometry set at installation is maintained exactly under all suspension loads without the angular deflection that a bushing would introduce at the same position.

The available dimensional profiles cover the range of bore and housing sizes commonly required in applicable and aftermarket custom suspension link fabrication, from lighter-duty end links and smaller adjustable arms through to heavier-duty track bar and radius arm applications requiring the larger OD profile.

Installation and Support

Rod ends thread directly into a threaded tube end, clevis or adapter by the threaded shank. Link length is set by adjusting the shank thread depth and securing with a locknut. Zero dedicated installation time is required as standalone hardware components. For additional technical assistance on dimensional selection for the specific application, a dedicated support team is available to confirm the correct housing OD, eye ID and length for the applicable link design and mounting hardware.

Repair and Upgrade

Rod ends are forged from high-strength steel engineered to withstand the suspension loads, shear forces and environmental exposure that custom suspension link pivot positions are subject to in everyday and performance driving. The forged construction provides superior strength and fatigue resistance compared to cast alternatives at the pivot end. The spherical bearing provides precision, low-friction articulation across the full angular range required at the pivot position throughout the service life of the installation. All products are backed by a 3-year warranty.

Who Rod Ends Are For

Rod ends are a practical solution for:

• Custom suspension fabricators building adjustable control arms, panhard rods, track bars and other suspension links requiring a precision, zero-compliance spherical pivot at the link end in the correct housing OD, eye ID and length for the specific application.
• Performance and competition vehicle builders requiring adjustable suspension geometry through threaded rod end link assemblies that can be set and reset to precise lengths without requiring link removal.
• Shops and builders replacing worn or damaged rod ends on existing custom or aftermarket adjustable suspension link assemblies where the housing OD, eye ID and length match one of the available dimensional profiles.

The right rod end provides a precision, zero-compliance spherical pivot at the link end position, allows accurate link length setting through the threaded shank, and maintains exact pivot geometry under all suspension loads throughout the service life of the installation.
